There are just some things that always happen on my desk, which is exactly why I can't really call a video like this a "tutorial" lol. Anyway, here’s how I make my curved spine junk journal covers from scratch - and how I stumbled on a really cool trick for making gorgeous patterns on fabric with rust water and coffee.
Repeat after me: No bulky junk journal... no bulky... Dang it, it's bulky!
The junk journal world is truly a peaceful little place, but there is an enemy lurking within. He is inconspicuous, yet enormous. He sneaks unnoticed on silent feet onto your craft table and messes around there. At first, you won't even notice him – only at the very end, when you're almost finished, he strikes: THE BULK.
NOT WHAT THEY ALL EXPECTED! Repeat after me: no bulky junk journal...
The plan: Making non-bulky ephemera for my RAGGEDY TURTLE BLOOM junk journal.
What happened: I ended up with some absolutely beautiful pieces, which are definitely not what they all expected... including myself.
But that's exactly the beauty of junk journaling – the unexpected turns into something uniquely wonderful!
LET'S SCRIBBLE IT ALL OUT!
Grab one or two pens, some ephemera, and let's try this fun and easy scribbling technique! If you’d like, you can also add a splash of acrylic paint or include some stamping and quotes to make it uniquely yours!
